As the availability of potable water in the northern and southern regions of Jordan started posing a challenge to the country as a whole. Summer getting closer and the influx of refugees to the country increasing by the day. TECCO went through a selective pre-qualification process to be short-listed as one of a few contracting firms in Jordan to bid and build for the reputable Mercy Corps International. Mercy Corps International found within TECCO expertise, field knowledge and full commitment to award the emergency project of designing and building water system improvements in both Mafraq and Ramtha. In this project, TECCO formed a strategic allegiance ending up in a Joint Venture with ESSCO (a member of Fouad Abu-Jaber Group)
The project involved Electrical, Mechanical and Civil works for three wells and a HDPE pipe network connecting the wells to pumping stations in Mafraq and Ramtha . Works also included improvements, upgrades and maintenance activities for the pumping stations.
Well improvements works included supplying, installing, testing and commissioning the following;
· Test pumping for 100 hours with hourly salinity measurements.
· Three submersible pumps with all the accompanying accessories such as level detecting probes with readouts, Electromagnetic flow meters with separate read out screens and control panels with all the required electrical, thermal and other protections.
o Jaber Submersible pump 105 m3/h at 270 m Depth (Grundfos).
o Abu Basal 1 Submersible pump 50 m3/h at 425 m Depth (Caprari).
o Abu Basal 4 Submersible pump 70 m3/h at 420 m Depth (Caprari).
· Cement lined black steel PN 16 Wellhead discharge piping and valving including Gate valves, check valves, Strainers, Dismantling Joints, sampling taps, double and single acting air release valves.
· Civil works including chain security fencing, electrical panels rooms, well head slabs, vaulted washouts, cleaning and leveling of well vicinities.
HDPE pipe network and pump station improvements included supplying, installing, testing and commissioning the following;
Excavation works, HDPE 16 BAR pipe installation (Butt welded 6’ & 8’ with necessary fittings), backfilling and pavement works for the pipe network. Also Vaulted air release valves, washouts and pipe encasements where constructed.
Pumping station improvements included a VFD (DANFOSS) operated horizontal multistage disturbing pump (MAS-DAF Turkey 240m3/h at 10 BAR), full S10k/E10k Siemens water chlorination systems including gas injectors and chlorine leak detectors, cement lined black steel piping, HDPE water tanks with electronic floats control.
